Mission & Vision
Mission and Goals
The White Pine Festival’s mission is to present, each summer, a series of world-class artistic and cultural events that engage both presenters and audiences. We believe music, art, and culture are the common threads that give our community depth and connection. We are certain the festival will become a much loved and anticipated annual event for our community.
Goals of the festival include:
- Presenting experiences of the highest artistic quality.
- Offering meaningful educational outreach programs to people of all ages, including students, adults, and seniors.
- Making our programs accessible to people with diverse interests and backgrounds by offering a range of venues, prices, and content.
- Bridging generations of artists and participants.
- Contributing to the local economy.
- Strengthening our area’s sense of community.
Vision
The White Pine Festival will explore challenging ideas from a wide range of artistic and intellectual perspectives – such as music, literature, visual art, history, poetry, nature, science, and philosophy. Festival participants will be encouraged to view art and the world in new ways, all the while approaching the task with the vitality, humor, and candor one finds in conversations among close friends. All of this will happen amid the beauty of the St. Croix River Valley.
During the festival, visiting artists and presenters will stay in the St. Croix Valley. In the festival’s opening days they will engage in personal renewal and artistic collaboration, which will be the basis for a number of spectacular public performances and events later in the week.
The White Pine Festival will stir the artistic and intellectual life of the region and bring communities in the St. Croix Valley closer together.
